I Set It Ablaze!

I've noticed a pattern at my writers group lately. If I despise the part of the book I bring for critique I'm on the verge of chunking it in the trash, and setting the can on fire the group ABSOLUTELY LOVES it. Now, if I love the section I bring I think it is amazing and might only need a few tweaks it gets torn to pieces by the group.

Smacks head on table.

I brought my first chapter back to the group (it's been about a year since they've seen it). The chapter has gone through competition critiques and self-critiques and rewrite, after rewrite, after rewrite. As I was reading it to the group, I noticed that some parts went on and on... and by the time I was 2 pages (double spaced) into it, I was tired of reading it. I could see the errors in my way clear as vodka.

So I post a photo to you of me editing.
I'm a delicate flower... my husband laughs.
